Job Title: Senior Care Assistant – In-Home Care

Job Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Senior Care Assistant to provide exceptional care and support to senior clients in their own homes. As a Senior Care Assistant, you will play a crucial role in promoting the well-being and independence of our clients by assisting with personal care, health management, and daily living activities. Responsibilities:

  1. Provide personal care and assistance to senior clients in accordance with their individual care plans, ensuring dignity, privacy, and respect at all times.
  2. Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and medication management.
  3. Monitor clients’ health conditions, vital signs, and medication schedules, promptly reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
  4. Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring adherence to dosage instructions and maintaining accurate records of medication administration.
  5. Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals and snacks, considering any dietary restrictions or preferences of the clients.
  6. Assist with light household tasks, such as cleaning, laundry, meal planning, and grocery shopping, promoting a safe and comfortable living environment.
  7. Provide companionship and engage in meaningful activities with clients to enhance their social and emotional well-being.
  8. Escort clients to medical appointments, social outings, and other activities, ensuring their safety and comfort during transportation.
  9. Assist in the coordination of care and services, including communication with family members, healthcare professionals, and other members of the care team.
  10. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of care activities, observations, and any incidents, adhering to regulatory standards and protocols.
  11. Provide guidance and support to other care staff, offering mentorship and training as needed.
  12. Stay updated with best practices in a senior care position, attend training sessions, and continuing education opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.

Qualifications and Skills:

Previous experience as a Senior Carer or similar role, with a demonstrated ability to provide compassionate and person-centered care to elderly individuals.

  • Possess relevant certifications, such as a Senior Care Assistant or equivalent, as required by local regulations.
  • Strong understanding of aging-related issues, health conditions, and common challenges faced by elderly citizens.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, their families, and the care team.
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to build trusting relationships with senior clients.
  • Knowledge of personal care techniques, medication administration, and health monitoring.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
  • Organisational and time management skills to prioritise tasks and provide efficient care to multiple clients.
  • Proficiency in documentation and record-keeping, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A valid driver’s license (if required) and willingness to travel to clients’ homes.

Working Conditions: The Senior Care Assistant will primarily work in clients’ homes, requiring travel between locations. This role may involve physical exertion, including assisting with transfers and mobility. The working conditions may vary depending on the clients’ living environments.
